We have a resident bear here in our neighborhood. She has gone through our trash a couple times, and we frequently see that she has gotten into our neighbors trash as well. While I was home, Chuck got up in the middle of the night to let the dogs out and she was outside our fence - of course, he practically had a heart attack. We also so her a few weeks ago with her cubs out by the main road coming into our neighborhood. She hasn't harmed anyone yet - or any animals - but she is getting more brave. My friend Kris saw her on the street one morning while she was walking her son to the bus stop. Until than, we had only been hearing of her coming up during the night. There are a lot of rumors as to what they are going to do with her - and at this point none of them are good options... This picture was taken on the other side of the base. Someone was taking a bag of garbage to the trash and opened up the dumpster and found a "surprise." I think I would have had a stroke!!!
