Eating like a big girl
Everyday this little one of ours does something new and excitting - or so it seems. Over the last few weeks, we have been putting baby silverware on the tray with her while she eats. She has been bound and determined for sometime now that we are not going to help her eat - she is going to do it by herself. Sometimes she will pick them up and hold them while she is eating, but she has never actually used the spoon or fork to actually feed herself. UNTIL YESTERDAY! She had taken her go-gurt and squirted it onto her tray.,and instead of taking her hand and eating it off of her hand, she picked up the spoon, dipped it into the yougurt and put it in her mouth. Of course, she continued doing this because we made such a big fuss over it! The amazing thing is is that we haven't been working on this with her or showing her how to eat off of spoons or forks. She just picked it up from watching us.
She also has figured out how to not only turn on, but open the dvd player. (And climb on the coffee table!)

The picture included is of Addie trying to eat like a big girl at a bar stool in our old house in VA.

Kisses
Addison has learned to give kisses! She doesn't pucker up, but she will put her face really close and put her lips on ours. It is so very sweet. She really likes to give kisses to her daddy - I have not been lucky enough to get quite as many as daddy, but a few here and there. It is the sweetest thing to watch. I just can't believe how big and grown up she is getting. Makes me want another one!!!

Getting all settled
So I have obviously fallen off the blogging horse again, but with a move and all, I think that is a good enough reason not to have blogged in a while.
Well, we have been in Florida for almost a month now. In so many ways, it doesn't seem that we have been here that long all ready, but in other ways it seems like we have been here much longer. We decided to live on base and are really happy with that decision. The housing here is brand new - in fact, no one has even lived in our house until now. (It is so new in fact, we can't even paint the walls because it will void the builder's warranty.) For base housing, it is beautiful and quite large. (I think I may need to buy new furniture just to fill it!!!) The unpacking is coming along very SLOWLY, but still coming along. I think at this point, we have the majority of the boxes unloaded and we are now just looking for "homes" for all of our things. Obviously, having a little one makes the move-in process much more lengthy.
The trip down was a long one. Addison did really well for the first long road trip, but that was in part to us stopping a lot to give her breaks. We took a 14 hour trip and turned it into a three day one. A little long for both of us, but I think had we pressed our luck it would have been a much more miserable trip for us all. We have decided though the next move, we will all be in one vehicle instead of two.
Of course, it is HOT! HOT!! HOT!!! here. It has been since we arrived. Don't get me wrong, it was hot in VA when we left, but it is so much worse here! It isn't the heat that I hate - I love warm weather, but I hate the humidity. It feels like a sauna outside. Over the last couple of weeks though, we have had several days of rain or days where it rains in the afternoon. That seems to help with the heat and so we have been trying to take advantage of these "cooler" days. I can say that Addie and I are truly looking forward to our two week trip to the NW in August. I think we will be spending a lot of time outside in the wonderful PNW summer weather.
I hope to post new pictures this weekend. However, that will all depend on if I find the camera cord... Here's to hoping we are all moved in soon!
